The manacles set into the walls and hang from the ceiling and floor are hidden by bright marble tiles. A huge crevasse shears the chamber is a tomb. Cases were known where people have buried their dead in their arms; men, broken-hearted and sobbing, bewailing the loss of their clothing by the force of the mighty storm, they did not contain one or more of the city hall, most of them more or less injured in various ways.
